Based on the blockbusting film starring Whoopi Goldberg, the story follows Deloris van Cartier, a woman forced to hide out in a convent. There, in a tale full of hilarious and heart-warming twists and turns, she helps her fellow sisters find their voices as she rediscovers her own.

Written by Joseph Howard, presented by arrangement with Music Theatre International, all authorised performance materials supplied by MTI. Gospel and disco music is written by Oscar and Tony award-winning composer Alan Menken. Lyrics are by Glenn Slater and the truly moving story is written by Cheri and Bill Steinkellner with additional book material by Douglas Carter Beane.
