Sinopse do Espetáculo
The Diary of a Madman revolves around the life of Aksenti Ivanovich Poprichin, a minor civil servant during the oppressive reign of Tsar Nicholas I. Written in a diary format, the story follows Poprinchin's gradual descent into madness, driven by his monotonous, bureaucratic life and unrequited love for his manager's daughter. His struggle against the oppressive system and personal turmoil leads to a psychological breakdown, culminating in his belief that he is the King of Spain. His journey ends with his confinement in a mental hospital, where reality and delusion intertwine.
The play explores themes of identify, power, and mental deterioration in a tragicomic fashion, blending dark humour with poignant insight.
